WHAT is the Cincinnati Scurry?
The Scurry is a unique event based on TV’s “The Amazing Race”, where teams of four compete as they perform various tasks around the city. (Can you serenade a crowd? Can you eat your weight in cheese coneys? Can you kick one through the uprights? You see where we’re going with this.) Corporate teams have a chance to give back to the community while they test their problem-solving skills, teamwork, Cincinnati knowledge, artistic and musical talents, and much more. TiER 1 Performance Solutions hosts this outstanding event to benefit our Learning Is Cool program, and each year the challenges are quirkier and more entertaining!
WHEN and WHERE is the Cincinnati Scurry?
The 6th annual event will start at noon on Friday, April 17, 2015, so get your running shoes ready!
HOW does the Scurry go down?
Teams are grouped for transportation purposes and herded onto their awaiting coach (a school bus): each group rides to their starting “hub”, which is the area where a group of “tasks”, or activities, will take place. Once all the groups on the bus have completed the tasks at that hub, the bus carries participants to the next hub. Each hub is loaded with crazy-fun tasks that teams will complete for points. The Scurry is a physical event, but it is not just about athleticism: you will need creativity, team spirit, and the ability to get in touch with your wild side!
The fun doesn’t end when all the tasks are completed: the After Scurry at the Holy Grail features food, music, and festive beverages, and we will announce winners and Coach Lewis will present prizes to teams that have demonstrated all kinds of whacky skills.
Past winners of the Scurry include Shick Sales, Fresh Sausage Specialists, Cincinnati Bell and American Modern Insurance Group. Congrats to the American Modern Insurance Group who won the 2014 Cincinnati Scurry for the second year in a row!
WHY should you Scurry? It’s for the kids!
This event helps raise money for the Marvin Lewis Community Fund’s Learning Is Cool program, an educational reward program that recognizes students in four school districts for “A” Honor Roll achievements.
WHO can Scurry?
Each participating organization will be able to enter one team of four racers for a minimum donation. We want to share the fun with more than just those four racers, so there will be opportunities for others to contribute. Group participation is encouraged, from fundraising and outreach opportunities before the race, to special group activities during the race, and of course the AfterScurry to enjoy into the evening.
